The cost of developing state-of-the-art AI models has skyrocketed, with figures reaching upwards of $200 million in recent years. This centralization of AI development poses significant risks, including limited access to resources and increased inequality. Yotta Labs addresses these challenges by revamping AI software stack with decentralized technologies to connect GPU clusters and consumer GPUs worldwide, providing a robust and cost-effective alternative to traditional centralized AI infrastructures.

Limitation of Existing Solutions

While there are several DePIN projects, aiming to build decentralized GPUs platforms, they often reuse existing open-sourced AI software stack, which is not optimized for the geo-distributed GPUs, not mention that the available GPUs have wide range of types and computation powers (a.k.a heterogeneity). Some projects aim to support AI workload (e.g. training, fine-tuning, and inference) using blockchain native approach. But the inherit limitation of the architecture and lack of throughput-oriented optimization in the software easily lead to far from idea performance for real-world use case.

This protocol is engineered to deliver performance on par with centralized solutions by extracting parallelism within AI workloads and optimizing the partitioning and mapping of tasks across available GPUs. This allows us to fully utilize the power of multiple commodity GPUs to achieve the performance levels of high-end GPUs.
